The town of Khajuraho was once the capital of Chandela Kings was build in 950 A.D. and 1050 A.D. These medieval, splendid temples known all over the world for their amorous sculptures had a unique notability of Indo-Aryan architecture, dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and the Jain Tirthankaras. Legend says, section of Hinduism, meditate physical pleasure to be one of the paths to reach God, to attain knowledge, which is perceptible in the sculptures. These marvelous splendor were once lost in the books of age were rediscovered in 1838 century, and are now left 22 in numbers out of 85 contrived initially.

The Khajuraho Temples are broadly divided into three groups, Western, Eastern and Southern.

Western Group of Temples: Western Group of temple is included in World Heritage site, embody the most poignant, imperial temples of Khajrraho. They are the largest group amongst all. The Jagadambi temple, the immortal Kandariya Mahadeva and the Chitragupta temples are the finest examples of the most exotic sculptures of India.

The Eastern Group of Temples: The Eastern Group of temples includes famous temples like Brahma, Vamana and Javari located near the Khajuraho Sagar and many Jain pilgrims like the Ghantai, Adinath and Parsvanath situated in south.

The Southern Group of Temples: The temples included are the famous Duladeo and the Chaturbhuja temples.


Khajuraho Dance Festival: The eminent Dance Festival of Khajuraho held every year in the month of March, is a cultural festival of dance and music, celebrated over a period of 7 days. The enchanting tunes of music bring sculptures of the temples to life.
