Destinations Covered:Paro - Thimphu - Punakha
Day 01: Arrival at Paro
During this journey, one will experience breathtaking views of Mount Everest, KanchenJunga and other Himalayan Peaks including sacred Jhomolhari and Mount Jichu Drake in Bhutan on clear weather. On arrival at Paro International Airport the representative will receive you and drive you to Thimphu, capital of Bhutan and en-route sightseeing.
Overnight in Hotel.Dinner in the hotel.
Paro to Thimphu: 1hour Drive.
Paro Alt: 2200 Meters.
Thimphu Alt: 2300 Meters.
Day 02: Thimphu
Leisure time around Thimphu city after breakfast, we will drop you in center of city and you can stroll around. There are good coffee shops around such as Ambient Café, Art Café, The Zone and Coffee Culture etc. Lunch on you own. At 3:30 PM in the evening we will come at drop site to pick you up and drive you to the hotel. In the Evening visit TashichoeDzong. Known as "fortress of the glorious religion", TashichhoDzong, or popularly known as ThimphuDzong, is an impressive structure that houses the King?s Office and residence for Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot) and stand on the right side of the Wangchu River (ThimphuChhu).Visit Buddha Point, the highest sitting Buddha in the world which is 51 meters tall overlooking the Thimphu valley.
Dinner at the hotel. Around 8 pm drive back to city for the night life (Only on Wed/Fri/ Sat there will be Party in the city).
Day 03: Thimphu to Punakha
After breakfast, drive east of Thimphu climbing steadily towards Dochula pass at an altitude of 10,000 feet. A group of 108 stupas and prayer flags greet you as you reach the summit. Located between Thimphu and Punakha, Dochula pass is a highest point on your trip, if weather permits you will be able to view whole Eastern Himalayan Ranges forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 stupas gracing the mountain pass.
Known as DrukWangyelChorten ?the construction of these 108 stupas was commissioned by Her Majesty the Queen Mother AshiDorjiWangmoWangchuck in 2004.
The descent from the pass through temperate forests colored with rhododendrons and magnolias, down to the semitropical zone of orange, banana and cactuses.Will serve your lunch at ChimiLhakhang Café.
Visit PunakhaDzong after lunch which is about 30 minutes? drive from your lunch spot. Punakhadzong, built in the 17th century and served as capital of Bhutan for more than 400 years; today it is winter home to the Je Khenpo the chief Abbot and monk body. It also serves as the administrative headquarters for Punakhadistrict.Overnight at Hotel. Dinner at the Hotel
Thimphu to Punakha: 3 hours approximately.
Punakha Alt: 1300 Meters.
Day 4: Punakha
After breakfast embark on a half day local sightseeing tour of Gangtok covering Rumtek Monastery, Dro-DulChorten, Institute of Tibetology, Handicraft Centre, and Flower Show. Afternoon free or at own. Overnight in Gangtok.
Option I :
After breakfast drive along the Mochu River for KhamsumYulleyNamgyalChorten. It stands out on a beautiful ridge above the Punakha valley. The stupa is didecated to our fifth King and serve to protect the country. A bridge provides access to a sweaty 45 minutes hike uphill to the stupa. Lunch at hotel. After lunch drive for Nunnery, where you will be able to see WangduePhodrang, another district in the south of Punakha.
Option II :
After late breakfast visit Nunnery where you will be able to view whole WangduePhodrang, another district in the south of Punakha. Lunch at the hotel. After lunch leisure time along the river.
Option III :
You can either miss KhamsumYulleyNamgyalChorten or Nunnery and do Rafting in Mochu river. Rafting in Mochu will be ascenic trip with class II rapid, suitable for a family trip. All the rafting gear (Life Jacket, Wet Suit, helmet, etc) will be provided by the rafting company.
*Cost for rafting should be beard by the group. Dinner at the hotel.Overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Punakha - Thimphu
After breakfast, you?ll depart for Thimphu. We will make a few stops for photograph on the way. After lunch visit school of 13 Art and Craft popularly known as painting school. Visit National Library which house all the scared Buddhist text. Drive for Handicraft Emporium. In the evening drive to drive to Takin Zoo.Takin is a National Animal of Bhutan.
Overnight at Hotel.Dinner at the hotel.
Day 06: Paro
Early morning drive for Paro.
Option I :
A day hike to Taktsang Monastery, Tiger?s Nest. This magical monastery clings to a vertical granite cliff 9700 ft. above the valley floor. It is believed that Guru Rimpoche flew here on the back of the Tigress and meditated here for almost 3 months. Later most of the renowned Buddhist saint visited the place. Lunch at Tea house.
Option II :
Day excursion to Chelela pass (3900 Meters).
Drive to Chelela pass the highest motor road. Enjoy the specular view of the Paro and Haa valleys on either side of the pass. It will be windy at the pass, carry light jacket or shawl. Unlike other day today we will have picnic lunch.
Overnight at hotel.Dinner at the Hotel.
Day 07: Paro
Following Breakfast, we will visit the National Museum, it served as a watch tower during the civil war in 17th century and in 1968 it was converted to National Museum. Visit RinpongDzong , build in 1646 by Zhabdrung NawangNamgay is the office for the Governor of Paro District and house the Monk Body.
Lunch in the Town. After lunch visit Kitchu Temple, founded in 6th century by the Tibetan king to subdue a giant demon. Overnight at hotel.Dinner at the hotel.
Day 8 : Departure
Drive to Paro airport for flight to your onward destination. Your escort will help you with exit formalities and then bid you farewell.
